The Project is Part of the USD $1B Investment Coming to Acapulco to Boost Tourism and Provide a Once in a Lifetime Experience for Tourists and Locals.
Acapulco welcomes one of its biggest and most exciting projects, XTASEA, an over-water zip line of more than a mile long that will reach speeds of up to 75 mph at an altitude of 328 feet launched in March in 2017. The zip line crosses the Puerto Marques Bay over the ocean, making it the largest over-water adrenaline rusher in the world.
XTASEA is one of 20 projects under the “Master Plan” by Grupo Autofin, one of Mexico’s most important investors, to take place in Acapulco. With an investment of USD $2 million, this thrill ride was officially inaugurated during Tianguis Turistico, Mexico’s most important travel trade event in March 2017.
Grupo Autofin’s “Master Plan” will also include renovations of the iconic Pierre Mundo Imperial and Princess Mundo Imperial, as well as the following new developments: Spa Tlalli, Turtle Dunes Golf Clubhouse, Gourmet Beach, Hotel Prince by Mundo Imperial, Hotel Marqués Boutique, Residences and Luxury Condominiums, Hotel Boutique Only You, Diamante Retirement Homes, Princess Medical Center, Premium Shopping Center, an eco-amusement park called Aventura Guerrero, a new tennis stadium, security towers, Princess University and a hospital. These projects are expected to be completed between 2017 and 2022 and will generate more than 10,000 new jobs.
The destination will also inaugurate a new state-of-the-art airport terminal, a USD $30 million investment from Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA), which will increase airport capacity for another 1.3 million passengers a year upon completion in 2018, 30 percent more than the current building.
