TWO ACAPULCO BEACHES RECEIVE BLUE FLAG CERTIFICATION

Two new beaches were recognized by the Foundation for Environmental Education’s (FEE) Blue Flag program in Acapulco, Revolcadero II and Icacos II, reinforcing the destination’s commitment to what remains one of its most popular attractions. The Icacos II beach is a family-friendly beach lined with high-rise hotels that goes from theCopacabana Hotel to the Grand Hotel Acapulco (former Hyatt Regency).

The Revolcadero II beach is a long stretch of beach popular among surfers for its high waves that goes from Playamar Condominiums to the Mayan Palace Vidanta hotel.

The coveted eco-label is attained after meeting 33 strict criteria points that include water quality, environmental education, environmental management, safety and services. While the Icacos beach has received the recognition since 2014, and the Revolcadero beach since 2015, this is the first appearance for the Icacos II and Revolcadero II on the list of Blue Flag certified beaches in Mexico.
